I just posted a few words on experimenting with #GTD in #Obsidian.
Getting Things Done in Obsidian https://johnny.chadda.se/getting-things-done-in-obsidian/
Another use for buttons in #obsidian is to quickly move done actions to a separate “done” section at the bottom.
(Sorry for the blurry gif, the video repeatedly failed to upload, so I resorted to making it a gif)
I replaced the mechanism of adding something to the Today view (other than actions that are due or start today). Initially I just used a wikilink, eg. [[Today]] on an action to have it added, but that clutters up the backlinks view.
Similar to how start and due dates work, I added a “do” date, and setting it to the current date (or some date in the past) makes it pop up in the today view. The benefit is that you can plan for things to pop up in the today view without manipulating the real start date.
Eg. [do:: 2023-02-28]
I’ll give it a few days to see if it sticks.
I added a button to my checklists in #obsidian that reset the checked tasks using the buttons plugin. A small thing for sure, but it removes some cognitive burden and friction of using these checklists.
Creating template projects using Templater in #obsidian is very powerful! You can ask for input, calculate dates and have everything set up automatically. This makes a great addition to the GTD in Obsidian setup I’m working on.
It’s current work in progress, but will share a blog post with more info once I have some templates created.
I was curious how the menu would look with emoji instead of text. It takes up a lot less space, but the touch targets may be a bit too small, and it may add cognitive overhead. Not convinced yet. 🤔
Also, why is there no iPad emoji?
